Rekonnect kids camp is 5 days of fun with other kids who have similar experiences.
Kids who have lived all round the world come together in the beautiful Peak District. There is lots of fun, games and laughter. We walk in the countryside, build dens in the woods and follow treasure trails. There is a campfire and a BBQ, football in the large garden, and lots of crafts and games indoors and out.
But we also take time to think about what it is like to say goodbye, to move countries and schools. Kids get an opportunity to reconnect with the UK and with others who ‘get it,’ people who understand the joys and challenges of being a TCK. We use the book of Ruth to see how God is with us through transition and change and to see how we are in good company with God’s people.
There is space to share experiences through our WOW evenings, where each family shares about the country where they have been living. Each morning we divide into smaller groups according to age, to chat at an age appropriate way.
Everyone sleeps in dorms, some bigger and some smaller. Some of our campers are away from home for the first time, and our leaders are great at reading bedtime stories and settling everyone at bedtime. (and making sure that teeth get brushed!)
The leaders are all people who understand TCKs. They are either TCKs themselves, or work with TCKs. They range from enthusiastic young leaders who are up playing football at 7am, to our more mature leaders, trained teachers with years of experience. All the leaders are committed Christians, are fully DBS checked, and choose to volunteer for rekonnect camps because they know how helpful it is in that time of transiton. For 2024, rekonnect kids runs from Monday 29th July – Friday 2nd August
Every year we aim to keep the price of rekonnect as low as possible. For 2024 we’ve worked hard to keep costs down to avoid any price rises and kept the rate at £175 per attendee. Bookings operate on a first come, first serve basis and are not confirmed until a £25 deposit is received, so book early to avoid disappointment! Please do get in contact if your child would fit the criteria of this camp, but cost is a barrier to entry.
