Rekonnect Teens is an annual camp which is run for 13-18 year olds. We spend five days together at the Peak Centre in the Peak District, building relationships and thinking about our TCK journey.
The highlight of the week for most is making new friendships with other Teen TCK’s who are also returning to live in the UK. Throughout the week, there are also talks from the leaders which focus on how to ‘rekonnect’ with a culture which may feel unfamiliar.
Much of the week is spent outdoors enjoying the beautiful surroundings – either playing games, going for walks or playing in the local river. We have a day trip to Sheffield where team challenges are completed and we get to enjoy the delights of a British train ride there and back. One afternoon we enjoy a quiz and a cream tea followed by a Ceilidh where we learn some true Scottish dancing moves. In the evenings, we play games, watch movies, sit around the campfire and chat or sing, all whilst drinking hot chocolate.
Over the course of the week, we spend time looking at the life and story of Joseph and are given a chance to reflect on what we can learn from his struggles and the way he persevered when he was faced with difficult decisions and situations. No matter where you are in your journey, Rekonnect is a chance to ‘reconnect’ with yourself, the UK and with God, while having a lot of fun and laughter along the way.
All of the lovely leaders on Rekonnect are either TCK’s themselves or have spent a substantial amount of their adult life living abroad. You will hear from each one during the week about how their time overseas has changed them and also their top tips for returning to the UK. We would love you to join us. For 2023, rekonnect teens runs from Sunday 30th – Friday 4th August.
Rekonnect Teens is £195 for 2023 and can be booked with a £25 deposit. If it is deemed impractical or impossible to run the camp in person due to Covid-19 restrictions, the cost for the online camp is £25, the same as your deposit. Bookings operate on a first come, first serve basis and are not confirmed until the deposit is received, so book early to avoid disappointment!
